Watching God's creation always makes me wonder in awe at the diversity of His incredible creativity!

Last Minutes with ODEN

This video touches my heart because when I watch it I see the very heart and hand of God moving and touching lives through His creation. The Bible says that through viewing and experiencing creation people can come to know the invisible qualities of God (Rom 1:20). I believe Jason and Oden's story solidfies the truth to this Scripture. Through Oden, Jason experienced an invisible quality of God: unconditional love. If Jesus says that God can make "stones cry out" in praise to Him (Luke 19:40), then He sure can use animals to embody unconditional love. There are things we can learn about the invisible qualities of God, if we just slowed down and took the time to watch and enjoy His wonderful creation.

The way God brings redemption and restoration into our lives is always amazing. He really can use anyone and any situation to bring healing to our lives. It's no surprise that God used a dog named Oden to bring such healing to Jason. Animals don't argue with God about who they are or how they are to be. A dog will act like a dog, just like a cat will act like a cat or a horse like a horse. Animals don't fight the way God created them to be. They just obey God. There are things we can learn about trusting and obeying God, if we just slowed down and took the time to watch and enjoy His wonderful creation.

My Father's Garden

I am always marvelled by the beauty and complexities of creation. I mean, how can a person not be absolutely amazed while watching this video? Now personally, insects kind of give me the creeps, but when I see extreme close ups of them it's like I am mysteriously intrigued and almost hypnotized by their strange armored beauty. Oftentimes, this makes me wonder how the Fall of Mankind has effected creation. When I see thorns, bristles and the needles of cacti I have to wonder if these are the result of sin. Going back to the insects, was it only after Adam and Eve sinned that bees grew stingers and female praying mantises began eating their mates? If I believe the Word of God that says through the sin of one man, death entered the world (Romans 5:12) and that all creation has been groaning to be released from its own bondage and decay (Romans 8:21, 22), then I must believe that even creation has been effected by sin - cursed to some degree.

When I sit back and really ponder this, it makes me think, wow, so the magnitude and true beauty of creation is yet to be seen. When creation is fully redeemed, when as Isaiah described that, "The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them" (Isaiah 11:6) and that "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain" (Isaiah 65:25). This means that we have yet to see the full beauty of creation. Can you even imagine that? Absolute peace among all creation where lions and oxes will both be vegetarians and where children will play among wolves and leopards.

I love meditating on redemption. It makes my heart happy and so much more thankful and grateful for Jesus and the fact that it is only because of Him that people are saved and transformed into new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17). But, even more than that through Jesus all of creation will also be fully redeemed. Amazing!

decisions, decisions...

At the end of the day, we all have to decide what to believe. Everybody is born with faith. Faith is a choice. What is it that you choose to put your faith in?

And God said...

This video reminds me of Genesis 1 where God is creating. When I read that the Spirit of God is hovering over the deep (Genesis 1:2), this is what I envision because the original Hebrew word רָחַף, means more than to just hover, but to actually shake, quiver, even vibrate. There is a greater sense of motion to the Hebrew word than to just hover. So, for me this video gives a good depiction of the engerizing role of the Holy Spirit as God spoke creation into existence.

Joshua Tree

I love the fact that I am able to recognize beauty. That beauty can warm my heart and quicken my spirit and take my breath away. Sometimes, I can take this God given gift for granted. But, when it does overtake me, I am reminded again of just how amazing a Creator we have.

frozen beauty

How amazing is this! Who would have thought that ice could be so beautiful? What an amazing Creator we have! Not only because He created all of this, but also because He created us in His image (Genesis 1:27) so that we are able to appreciate beauty. It almost makes me want to go to Greenland. Almost. I'm just glad that I can take in all the beauty without all the coldness. I guess if you really wanted the full experience (in lieu of actually traveling to Greenland) you could wait until winter and watch this video outside while you stand or sit in the snow. To each his own. Enjoy!

Something Creative

Just some interesting art that I ran across on the web: http://zulu-eos.deviantart.com/gallery/. It made me reflect on the wonderful gift of creativity and how we should really nurture and encourage children to be more creative because when we do, we teach them to embrace the creativity of the image of God in us all. Of course this creativity needs to be redeemed by Jesus, but if we stomp and stifle that desire to create early on by teaching our children that being creative is a waste of time, that there's no intrinsic value in it, then we basically conform them to the demands of the world where value is based on efficiency and productivity. And maybe that's where you're at, but I believe our value should never be based on what we do, but on rather who we are.

Our redemption is solely based on who we are in Christ. To be save by grace means that our salvation does not come from, nor will it ever be based on what we do: it truly is a gift from God (Eph 2:8-9). So, the more that we indoctrinate our children into efficiency, the more I believe we push them towards a works-righteousness, even legalism. Maybe, if we allowed them to be creative and to pursue those things that inspire them to celebrate creation; they'd get a better grasp on what amazing grace is all about.
